The Ultimate Vessel for Tea Meditation

The Gaiwan (literally "lidded bowl") is the most versatile and essential brewing vessel in Gongfu Cha, allowing you to view the expanding tea leaves and smell the evolving aromas of your brew. The Terasilk "Scholar Rock" Gaiwan strips this traditional tool down to its most raw, earthy, and elemental form.

Embracing the Zen philosophy of Wabi-Sabi—finding beauty in nature's imperfections—this three-piece set features a highly textured, unglazed golden clay body accented with sculptural elements inspired by ancient, weathered stones.

Key Features:

Sculptural "Scholar Rock" Details: Instead of a standard smooth finial, the lid features a hand-sculpted, porous "Taihu Stone" (Scholar Rock) acting as the lifting knob. This motif is subtly echoed on the body of the bowl, bringing a deep, literati-inspired connection to nature directly to your fingertips.

Raw Duan Ni (Golden Clay): Crafted from authentic, high-quality Yixing Duan Ni (Golden Sand Clay). The surface is left completely unglazed, revealing a beautiful, stippled texture that feels like raw stone. This highly breathable clay naturally softens water and enhances the flavor of roasted oolongs, pu'erhs, and black teas.

The Classic Three-Piece Design: Includes the traditional three elements: the saucer (representing Earth), the bowl (representing Humanity), and the lid (representing Heaven). Together, they form a perfect harmony for brewing and decanting.

The Luxury of Patina: As you brew, the porous Duan Ni clay will gradually absorb the tea's natural essential oils. Over time, the matte golden finish will deepen, developing a rich, glossy, and highly coveted antique patina unique to your brewing habits.

🍵 How to Brew with a Gaiwan:

Place your loose-leaf tea into the bowl and add hot water. Use the lid to gently stir the leaves and smell the aroma. When ready to pour, slightly offset the lid to create a small gap, hold the edges of the bowl (avoiding the hot center), and tilt to decant the tea into your fairness pitcher or cup, using the lid to hold back the leaves.

Care: Rinse with hot water only. Never use soap.
